| "However, it appears that in compensation for turning down Israel`s `offensive` requests, the U.S. has agreed to strengthen its defensive systems." Errr, Israel wanted something for nothing. The USA said "no". How does that impose an obligation upon the USA to "compensate" Israel? You compensate someone for a loss, not for being forced to say "No, stop asking for things that you can not have". Haaretz, the correct word is "compromise", not "compensate". As in: 1) Israel wanted THESE things 2) The USA refused to supply THESE things 3) The two sides then compromised, and Israel got THOSE things instead. |
