I`ve watched reports on this man over the last few years, and have concluded that he really doesn`t seem to know what he`s doing. He seems so ignorant of basics. (I wonder if he bothers to read Ha`aretz?)
Of course there won`t be peace this year, nor next year, nor the year after that. There is no Palestinian leader in sight who can unite and lead, and I don`t know that Israel has a leader on the horizon who can follow in the footsteps of Rabin.
Furthermore, Israel is getting along quite nicely with things as they are and has no incentive to give anything up in return for "peace." If Mr. Solana has any genuine interest in peace, he should work for EU sanctions against Israel so it has some incentive to compromise for peace, but instead, we see the EU giving more and more rewards to Israel -- as if to approve and encourage its current pattern of behavior. |
