Sadly,on the day, after the poor old Israeli guy got knifed and Israeli politicians, mindful of coming elections, will be queuing up to look tough, it almost certainly won`t happen, but here`s why it should.

Israel needs a Palestinian people who can take pride in something else apart from terrorism or resistance, whatever you want to call it. Let the Gazan players go to the West Bank and let them play Jordan. Maybe some Israelis could even support the Pal team against Jordan. I know it sounds nuts, but what needs adjusting is Israel`s whole attitude to Palestine.

I say Israel`s because Israel is almost 100% the dominant partner in the relationship with the Pals and the dominant partner needs to lead. It needs to show it is capable of generosity. Israel still treats the Pals as if Israel is the underdog, as it was in 1948, as if it can never let its guard down, never show compassion because it will be seen as weakness. But in this situation, generosity is a sign of strength.
