| It is not just a few retired American generals that are concerned about Israels path toward war. It is also the President of the United States and the Secretary of State and many others. President Bush called for peace by years end and a halt to settlement expansion. Instead, two months later, the Israeli media reported the leadership (particularly Barak) were criticizing Bush`s calls for peace. It was also reported that settlement expansion had doubled. It is for Israel to decide to take American advice or not. If they do not take the advice though, they cannot still expect unlimited and unquestioning support from America. We see the rift developing now. It is slow but steady. It will be the base upon which Obama will build the "new" relationship with Israel. |
