It`s a pretty common claim but it is simply not true.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was mis-quoted originally, and has used the same line since, but most people do not listen to what the line says. They just fall for his goading.
"the Zionist regime" will vanish from the pages of time or some such.
There are many Israelis who believe much the same thing, being Jewish does not naturally encompass subjugating another people over the last bit of land, in particular, the land illegally occupied since the first transference of Israeli civilians into land taken in war in 1967.
Israel itself as a state is not going anywhere if the choice is a fair and just peace.
That means Israeli colonialism, or what many see as simply Zionism, will come to an end. Zionism should be about peace, and finally penning a constitution that guarantees equal rights for all instead of the patchwork Basic Laws that favor one group over another.
Do not mistake the words of Ahmadinejad as actually the words of who controls Iran, that`s Khameini.
In response to US and Israeli rhetoric, there has been some saber rattling about a prestrike on Israel by Iran.
That`s just baiting of course. Iran knows as well as any military expert will tell you. An attack on Iran would be disastrous, it would send oil prices through the roof on top of an already staggering economy.
And it would not work. At best it would make Iran much more determined, it would piss off Russia, and it would only delay Iran from really pursuing a nuke by a few years at best. |
