Consider this. Say their intelligence was correct and Hamas was digging a tunnel to "capture soldiers" - OK, so if the IDF really knew this, why did they not wait for the Hamas militants to pop up out of the tunnel, capture them, and get the whole thing on film and take it to the Security Council?
That would have been compelling evidence to confront the world with.
I believe it was nothing more than an attempt to ratchet up the tensions, Israel does not like ceasefires.
When it`s too quiet in Gaza, people start talking about illegal "settlements" - see the Haaretz article on the EU being directed by Britain to start becoming much more wary of goods coming from the occupied West Bank but stamped with origins from an Israeli addressed (on the Israeli side of the Green Line) company to hide that it did not really come from the Palestinians. |
