Pope Pius XII was honored by the New York Times during his lifetime for all he did to help Jews. Thousands of Jews were given false baptismal papers and hidden by Catholic Priests & Nuns across Italy and Europe--all at the instigation of Pope Pius XII. He did speak out at the beginning of the war, and in response the Nazi`s upped their killing of Jews. He was hated by the Nazi`s for his stance. The Catholic Church was a target of the Nazi`s too--thousands of Priests were sent to the death camps--they would have sent Pius XII too if they thought they could get away with it.
