I am not Catholic. I was raised as a Bible believing Christian. I have my hangups when it comes to the Catholic church and the Pope but I think it is good that the Pope visits Israel. I hope it is an opportunity for reconciliation between this old church and religious Jews and the Israeli government.
The side issues here are serious.
1. Why is it wrong to preach the gospels to all people including Jews? 2. What does it matter who the Catholics seek to esteem? It is their denomination; furthermore I don`t think Catholics are going to take it as a license to persecute Jews? 3. With the subject of history; how many know that when Muslims invaded Spain their foot soldiers were Jews? It seems very logical that when Catholic Spain finally threw off the bonds of slavery and occupation to tell all non-Catholics to leave.
Why focus on historic offenses when there are ones happening now? Why is Israel ransoming away the Christian sites to the Arabs allowing them to "cleanse" the area? |
