| Although I am Catholic, I do not agree that Pope Pius X11 should be canonized by the Pope. What is to be gained ? We would eventually have a saint who came to that status under a cloud of controversy and at what cost? It would cause hurt to those people who do feel the pope was silent while their mothers, fathers and siblings were sent to the camps. It would set back relations between the Jewish and Catholic faiths. If Pius did do the best he could I am sure he would not mind waiting another 7 years until all the archieves have been reviewed, By then there should be a clearer picture of the then pope`s role during that tragic time.If we as Catholics have a opportunity to demonstrate true compassion then delay the process and continue the research. I am not much into saints... My late grandmother was left with 10 children when pop fell of a ship in the 40`s. She was a saint |
