| There is an element of Orthodox Jews who are out of control. Whether it is in Postville, Iowa or Hebron, they show a complete contempt for the basic concepts of the rule of law - a basic premise of Jewish society. They are part of the same mentality that wants to use the power of the Israeli government to decide who is a Jew i.e. to control the conversion process, etc. For some of these people, 17th century Poland and Lithuania represent the epitome of civilization. However, most Jews know about the wonders of pluarlism, democracy and the ability of Judaism to flourish in the modern world. These people are the modern day equialents of Korach, Jeraboam and the Zealots who brought on the destruction of the Second Temple. |
