Not that Hez didn`t dig bunkers and try to hold ground, unsuccessfully I might add, but they hid like crazy amongst civilians and pretended they were civilians. There is first hand Lebanese accounts of that. Moreover, we Canadians know that to be the case because we lost a Canadian on U.N. duty when Hez started shooting rockets from right beside U.N. headquarters and the Israelies fired back. Even the Haaret story itself tells us that Hez used a combination of guerilla tactics (hiding in civilian population) and regular army tactics. Yes, they had a lot of fire power and wounded lots of Israelies but, in part, because Israel chose not to go all out. Nevertheless, as "successful" as Hezbollah was, it ended up north of the Latani and on the run, all whilst its leadership hid. 1000 Lebanese lives was the cost of this adventure for Hez but it fed their macho delusions, so I guess from their perspective it was a great success.
