Sure, Israel can retake Gaza after a long, very bloody slog with lots of Gazans and Israelis dead. Then what? If Israel withdraws, a group worse than Hamas will take over. If Israel installs a puppet government and withdraws, the puppet government would be dead in less than a week and a group worse than Hamas would take over. If Israel tries direct control, that will mean IDF patrolling the streets with dozens getting killed every day - the same draining thing that happened to the US in Iraq and Vietnam. If Israel doesn`t want to lose, it needs to end the blockade immediately and negotiate directly with Hamas (who have demonstrated that they can keep things relatively calm if they want to).
In the end, Israel will have to talk to Hamas or a worse group, why get lots of people killed before Israel talks?
