...is that if in response to a rocket barrage that has to date killed zero (0) Israelis, the IDF either invades or mounts some attempt to overawe Hamas with artillery and airpower Israel will necessarily suffer a catastrophic defeat.

She will kill several hundred innocent men, women, and children -- and this will dwarf whatever Hamas does by way of reply. This might not bug Israelis much -- but it will definitely bug the rest of the world.

It`ll rapidly become a matter of Israel either (a) backing down, or (b) facing a severe embargo. Either way, she loses.

I suspect Hamas has already worked this out. If Israel finds the current level of bombardment unacceptable, her only real recourse is to lift the blockade and concede Gaza`s independence.
