| When the "truce" was in effect Gaza was still being strangled. People who were critically ill, still, couldn`t get Israel`s permission to leave Gaza for medical care. The shortages of essential supplies were exasperated. The United Nations and human rights groups reported extensive malnutrition in Gaza and sewerage has entered the food supply threatening the health of 1.5 million people in Gaza. Hamas cracked down on rocket firings with a relative calm which lasted for six months. However,there was no effort by Israel to continue the diplomatic approach with Hamas through the Egyptians which could have perhaps ended the blockade that endangers the survival of those in Gaza and constitutes a violation of international law. This is state sponsored terrorism but like Gideon Levy said no one in Israel cares much about anything, except for stealing Palestinian land. |
