everyone here has considered ehud barak a wet towel since his `confidence-building measures` and `good will gestures` during his PM term. he pulled out of settlements and gave up ground for no good reason, when the palestinians were not making any kind of `good will gestures` toward israel. he was weak in offering too much to arafat, yet failing to get arafat to even agree to that! as PM he is remembered as a loser! nobody thought he would be a good defense minister and he hasn`t been. he has been a total wuss.
still, opinion in israel changes at the drop of a hat - if he continues this offensive throughout the elections - no truce - no cease fire - killing every last hamas member dead and buried, he might just get himself another shot at that job he covets. |
