| Unfortunately, as in Lebanon the IDF has dropped decisive and strategic use of ground troops from their playbook, rather they try to use air assets and semi-symbolic troop movements as chips to shape the very negotiations and *exit* from further combat they are counting on to lead to agreements that they believe (hope) will be more favorable to Israel than the status quo. The very last thing they intend, as far as we know, is a deep thrust into Gaza, the holding of strategic choke points, or, G-d forbid actual occupation. |
