that is proposed by France and Egypt then Israel will be seen as the aggressor. Not that Israel is going to reject anything if the US tells them to accept the ceasefire
Peres is merely maneouvering to get the best terms possible. It is interesting that on the 12th day Peres is now using the reason of Israel for killing over 700 Palestinian civilians was to prevent Israel being held hostage by terrorists.
The original reason was to stop the rockets, then it was to destroy the tunnels, then it was to stop arms smuggling. In between times it was to destroy HAMAS, then it was to destroy HAMAS ability to fight, now as of yesterday it is to teach HAMAS a lesson it will never forget.
Seems to me Israeli politicians who are in the middle of an election campaign look at the IDF as a plaything which is a way of getting votes.
So it is sent into Gaza with no clear aims facilitated by the West until the bodycount gets to high then the United States tells them to stop. |
