| Look there can be accidents, negligence and misconduct. With negligence or misconduct there have to be investigations with a view to preventing repeat incidents and, in the case of misconduct, to punish wrongdoers. However, none of that takes away from the legitimacy of Israel`s campaign which is a self defence campaign. In terms of accidents, not only can they happen but they will. They are inevitable given the density of housing and humans in the area of the fighting. That it itself is crime against humanity which Hamas is responsible for. The standard of care we expect from Israel`s soldiers must be very high but not so high as to prevent Israel from defending its citizens. Nevertheless, if an Israeli solidier targets civilians, knowing that they are civilians, that soldier must be tired because that is wrong and exactly what Hamas does routinely. Israeli soldiers, on the other hand, can`t be responsible for the mixing of Hamas and civilians. Again, that is Hamas`s wrong doing. |
