| Israel`s biggest downfall, harsh as this may sound, is its excessive hesitation and self-restraint. When it comes to Israel, the world is very impatient. It will not tolerate wars lasting weeks and months (unless Israel is losing). Israel does best with "six day wars" and the like. The only wars Israel can win, as long as it insists on paying attention to world condemnation, are those in which it is willing to strike with such overwhelming force that its enemy either surrenders or is obliterated within a few days. Keep that in mind for the next war. This one has gone on too long at 15 days. Israel will soon retreat, and Hamas will claim victory even though it got its ass kicked. The world will see Israel as the loser, and will be quite happy about that. Peace will be short-lived, and another front will open in no time at all, whether from Gaza, West Bank, Syria, Lebanon, Iran or God-knows-who. Hopefully, Bibi will be in power and will make good on his promises. |
