| A democracy can`t ban the parties that represent an ethnic minority forming a fifth of the population. Even though Sinn Fein openly supported an armed terrorist group, it was not banned because it was clearly understood that preventing peaceful political expression of grievances would inevitably lead to an increase in terrorism. |
