| Rabbi Lerner of Tikkun magazine does not speak for me or most other rabbis whom I know. Rabbi Lerner is a leader whose concern for Israel seems to stop whenever Jews have to defend themselves. His magazine is a constant reiteration of this philosophy in one fashion or another and has been for years. Being dovish is, for Rabbi Lerner and Tikkun magazine, the desire to withdraw back to the yeshiva and hope for the best. It is exactly the Rabbi Lerners of the world who advocate sitting around and talking with people whose charter calls for our complete elimination. (BTW, I don`t see how he can light Hannukah candles in good conscience....after all, the Macabees destroyed the Greeks. Maybe the Jews should have just talked with them. After all, can`t we just all get along?) Silly |
