I cannot fully agree that the majority of voters think, weight and rationalise things as Mr Harel presents them. Sure, some do, but not most. The main reason the country has swung (to my mind) to the right is that most Israelis have actually begun to believe, for the first time in 60 years, that peace with the Arabs is simply not possible. Peace is no longer `Likely` or `Not likely` but `Never`. It is this realisation (enhanced by the intransigent Arab MKs, the Hamas Manifest, the Rockets etc) which opens the gates to the likes of Mr Liberman and his ideas. |
