Assad might have power today.....at least until he does something to piss off Ahmanutjob and the boys in Tehran. Perhaps getting too friendly with the Great Satan, while Obama and crew put the screws to Iran on a seperate tack. It wouldn`t take too much work for Iran to put a bullet in Assads head and have the lunatic fringe take over Damascus. Courting lunatics may have its pros in the minds of ignorant westerners that really don`t know what they are dealing with. I believe that there could be some advantage for Assad to deal with Washington if he wants to improve his country`s presence in the world. However, the question becomes, will Hizbollah and Iran allow this?? While Iran uses Syria to supply HIzballah, Iran could equally use them against Syria. Strength is needed in the region in the form of a strong trio against fanaticism. Israel, Egypt, Jordan, perhaps Syria, and all the smaller oil sheikdoms that need protection from Iran.
