Bush administration also commemorated Chanukka by lighting the Menorah. So I wouldn`t read too much into things. But with the current slight rise in anti-Semitism, it should be acknowledged as a welcomed undertaking by the White House.
Our seder at my uncle`s house last night was also inclusive. With both traditions of Mizrahi (Iraqi Jewish traditon) and Ashkenazi (European traditon), the children participated by reading in Hebrew and English. What`s striking about the seders year after year is how they evolve differently from generation to generation. And this has to be acceptable for the sake of continuity. |
