Considering Jews have more nobel prizes than any other race, Israeli governments can be remarkably stupid.
The organisers of this conference really didn`t want Israel to be the main issue, which is why they worked long and hard with Western governments to remove references to Israel from the original draft resolution.
After they go to that trouble, what does Israel do - send a high level, persuasive delegation to make its point, standing alongside its Western allies? No, it throws its toys out of the pram and demands its Western allies boycott the whole conference, which some half-heartedly and belatedly do.
This, of course, virtually guarantees that Israel will be topping every agenda, because it`s screwed up the conference and then didn`t even have the decency to show up. Ahmedinejad must be pissing himself laughing.
For heaven`s sake. Israel`s got 7 countries to boycott, when it could have had a solid block of 10 counties including France, UK and itself actually there. |
