Oren is moving in the right direction, but not quite on the right track. Hamas, roughly translated "resistance", the Palestinian counterpart, indeed response to the Israeli right-wing, was founded in 1987 after 20 years of occupation as a creation of Israeli occupation and colonialist settlement policy. In other words, it was a creature of desperation of oppression and injustice (land-grab) made in Israel. As such, Hamas resistance is amenable to liquidation of the OCCUPATION which created it, having agreed with J. Carter on 21 April `08 to respect a referendum accepting peace with Israel, etc.
Oren is absolutely correct that Israel needs to make up her mind to move out of the OT`s, and begin independently to move out. That can only be salutary to advancing peace. But the key and the foundation is Israeli acceptance of the Arab Peace Initiative of 2002, bringing regional incentives and pressures to bear on Hamas to reform. Plus Hizbollah, and their Iranina sponsor.
