| All, Oren is advocating Sharon`s convergence program. The Palestinian`s could have gotten another withdrawal in 2005/2006 if they had restrained the rocket attacks from Gaza. The evacuation of Gaza was a devastating attack on the `One State Solution`. If the Pals gave up the PA and demanded Israeli citizenship, the Israelis could say `sure`. However, since there are no Jews in Gaza, we don`t want it - Period. The Israelis could turn to a district method of selection of the Knesset (and a little US style gerrymandering) take the resultant 5.8M Jews, 3.6M Pal nation and come up with a permanent 75% Jewish majority in the Knesset. Hamas knew this and successfully destroyed Israeli sentiment for unilateral withdrawal. Everyone put Olmert down for his 95% of WB offer based on Annapolis. Abbas refused to negotiate any of his Annapolis based offers. Now, the no peace treaty unilateral withdrawal to Israeli desired borders is back on the table. |
