Ivar,

You have been pushing the Arab Peace Initiative for quite a while.

While it is better than anything the Arab`s have come up with in the past, it still has flaws from an Israeli perspective. It requires full and complete withdrawal to the June 4, 1967 lines without any allowance for negotiated borders.

This would kick Israel off the Wailing Wall and leave Jews out of every major Jewish Holy Place except for Tsfat. Moreover, much of East Jerusalem had a Jewish population before they were expelled. Jews have a population in East Jerusalem and expulsion of the 200,000 Jews living there is just not acceptable.

Lastly, Hamas rejected the API. They will never recognize Israel - period. Their mealy mouthing may have fooled Jimmy Carter, but fools no one else. When they say there are amenable to liquidation of the Occupation - it is the Occupation of 1948 that they are talking about - not 1967.

Hamas lost a lot of support in the Sunni World when they rejected the API.
