Haaretz Service: Pope: Holocaust victims' cry still echoes in our hearts
Talkback
Title:One delicate issue that the Pope seems to have omitted

The Pope seems to have omitted consideration of the fact that many of the most notorious Nazi`s - including Hitler, Goebbels, Himmler, Kaltenbrunner, Seyss-Inquart, Eichmann, Heydrich, and Amon Göth (of Schindler`s List notoriety) were baptised Roman Catholics, brought up on that Church`s long tradition of anti-Semitism. It is not enough remembering and lamenting the victims, but the Pope ought to have made a point at Yad Vashem to note the terrible legacy that was nurtured by the Catholic (and Orthodox) churches which led up to the Holocaust and indicate how he intends to help expunging it. What a lost opportunity!
