as a holocaust survivor from tansylvania, right after the area was liberated at the end of 1944
as a child of 12, I witnessed the american joint came to our town and to many areas that some jews remained alive and distributed money for each individual, plus a lot more for communal affairs like synagogus , schools, mikvahs, and other subjects. What happened the community started to thrive but within a few years the jews run away and all that mones has gone to waste. The Joint encouraged the people to stay in place.
