Twice in this article Shragai refers to Israeli-Arabs as "of palestinian origin" or descended from palestinians". Most arabs who call themsleves palestinians are Syrians or Egyptians who moved to British Mandate Palestine in the last century. The other arabs were mostly Beduoins & never referred to themselves as palestinians prior to the Zionist movement. There has never been a nation called "Palestine". It`s an invented nationality as an excuse to drive Jews out of Israel.
Regarding the bill to outlaw denial of Israel as a Jewish state, this is undemocratic. This also underscores Israel`s need for a constitution, which could define Israel as a Jewish state & outline the rights of citizens. The best way to ensure Israel remains a Jewish state is demographically. |
