If Hamas really is in control in Gaza and able to fire rockets "at will" at Israel, as you contend, this kinda makes a nonsense of the claim that Gaza is still "under Israeli occupation".
And it proves nothing about who won in Gaza. Barak and others said many times before, during and after Operation Cast Lead that Israel`s aim was not to topple Hamas but rather to intimidate Hamas against firing rockets at Israeli civilians. And it worked. In the weekend before the Gaza operation started Hamas fired 60 or more rockets a day into Israel and openly boasted about rejecting all offers to extend the truce. Now they are barely saying "boo" and are sacking 2 of their most senior commanders - without a truce.
As for Iran, in the long run it will rise and then fall in a screaming heap, just like Nazi Germany. In the meantime, it`ll keep. There`s no hurry. |
