As another American Jew I am not troubled at all either. I was troubled, greatly troubled, by the Bush Administration`s complete hands-off policy that went on for years. Without direct American pressure, the more extreme factions on both sides have come to power. And while Hamas is MUCH more extreme than Bibi (no comparison, absolutely no moral equivalency), his calling for Israel to be a Jewish state, as opposed to asking for Palestinians to simply declare Israel has a right to exist, is deeply troubling as one raised to believe in the (thankful) separation of religion and state.
