What the past two centuries have unearthed is material existence that Jews lived in the area, and under Roman oppression during the first century. In fact the only written reference to the man central to Christianity is in Josephus. And even that reference is considered by experts a later insert by a monk tasked with transcribing the work as a means of preservation. The reference itself is described as entirely unrelated to the text that precedes and follows the insert.
For Jews to lend our expertise to make material that which is obviously fantasy may serve to reinforce the faith of the faithful.
