By Ari Shavit, Haaretz Correspondent: Is a crushed Israel in America's best interest?

Title:"crushed" Israel.

It is true: Israel is being treated with British Victorian schooling, while Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia are pampered. It is unfair and irritating.

Yet I don`t see why "tough love" can lead to Israel being "crushed". There`s a missing link between the right or wrong new attitude of Obama`s administration, and Shavit`s notion that Israel would be "crushed".

"Crushed" because Obama is insisting on a settlement halt? "Crushed" because it demands Israel to honor every former PM`s stance of two-states-for-two-peoples? "Crushed" because the USA is not buying the excuses of the last decades?

Israel is not being "crushed". It is being told what friends believe with candour. Just like when another friends says it like it is: Lieberman is a stupid choice for Israel`s job of diplomat-in-chief. And it really is. So ego-trips and prideful gut-reacyions aside, we have friends who are saying to us things we should better consider. No friend wants to crush us. Iran and its proxies do.
