| There seem to be three frequent counter-reactions to the report in the other posts: 1. Amnesty should criticize other people, not Israel. 2. Amnesty is anti-semitic. 3. Yes it was brutal but it was justified. My reaction to that: 1. AI does criticize many others, if you go to amnesty.org you will see they have reports on numerous countries and issues. 2. AI has many Jewish members, it works for HUMAN rights, regardless of ethnicity. 3. The brutality against civilians (targeting civilians, targeting and blocking ambulances etc) did not help achieve the strategic aims of stopping the rockets. Instead it strengthens the resolve of Palestinians and others to resist Israel. More importantly, it is not morally acceptable. Do unto others as you would have do upon you, right? You would not treat Israeli civilians like that, even if they were surrounded by `terrorists`. |
