A housing minister that makes these racist remarks would loose his job the same day in any other western country. In Israel, he is sheered on. In Israel, this is the mentality of a majority. People know that somehow it is wrong, but still ... "they are Aarabs". Racist, anti Arab thinking is the common denominator, the basis on which Israeli children are taught in school about history, about politics, about everything. The small minority in Israel that protests against this are put aside as "extreme leftists" and Jewish selfhaters. Israel is in far bigger trouble then only the cruel occupation of its neighbours land. Israel proper is a state in which apartheid thinking, racist paranoia, victimhood are the main sentiments. |
