| When we see reports of actions attributable to Hamas which wuold not benefit Hamas, but instead, benefit Israel, we must wonder at their authenticity. If there is one true thing that we know, it is that Israel is under strong pressure from America to stop settlement expansion. Israel has not been able to muster a credible argument to avoid this pressure. The only way for Israel to get around this problem is to create a diversion or some larger issue that will relieve the pressure. The very best diversion would be aggression from hamas, either against Israel or against the PA. This is something that will fool nobody, least of all Obama. We are all waiting for Israel to take some desperate action to take the pressure and the spotlight off them. |
