Akiva Eldar, Haaretz Correspondent and News Agencies: EU retracts criticism of Israeli settlements
Talkback
Title:Sttlements not Illegal?
Name:JT
City: State:
The question of the settlements has been ruled on by the UN on many occasions, and they have always come to the conclusion that they are illegal, and these rulings are based on the Geneva conventions (I am too lazy to go and reference them at the moment, but you all know they are there in the record).

Again, Israel is a signatory to the UN, so that, technically, if we want to live in a civilized world of laws, the settlements are "illegal".

An important element of the Geneva Conventions, for which UN rulings are based, were born out of the Nuremburg trials, post WW II. The world is not against Israel, the world just wants peace in your region as much as you do, but considering both sides of the coin, Israel, as well as Palestine, we see these settlements as the biggest obstruction to peace, all things considered.
