why the Palestinians are saying that they want to continue negotiations based on where the previous Ehud Olmert government (Kadima) had reached in bilateral talks. I don`t blame them because it certainly has reached a smaller gap in the dispute. Well, if the Netanyahu coalition agrees to such principle of understandings, who needs a settlement freeze? But this is highly unlikely in the near future.
So to reiterate what just has happened last fall 2008: the great possibility of reaching a peace accord with the Palestinians, was scuffled by internal politics within the coalition members, advocating for PM Olmert to resign, in addition by to all media, bringing FM Tzipi Livni to lose the election to Benjamin Netanyahu, all because the PM of democratic Israel, Ehud Olmert`s travel arrangers used airmile points to purchase tickets/or reimburse for family members in previous years of Knesset portfolios. In a democracy, priorities can certainly be rearranged! |
