The constant nonsense spread by Israeli poticians is really mind.boggling. Does Olmert really believe his crap, or is this just spin?
If he really is foolish enough to belive this, a simple look at the settlement map posted at Haaretz recently should show him that there can`t be peace as long as this issue isn`t resolved. A Palestinian state, divided by all those Israelis towns and their roads within its borders is not a viable entity (and actually, this shows the strategy behind the settlements). The Israelis rightly criticized the same problem in the UN particion plan of 1948. The argument that this should be ok for the westbank now doesn`t hold water. The settlements who are breaking up the territorial integrity of that area will have to go, there`s no way avoiding that. Or else there won`t be peace. But maybe that`s what Olmert, Netanyahu and the rest of that gang want. |
