2009 Maccabiah / German delegates remember Munich tragedy

rs of the Maccabiah's German delegation gathered outside Ichilov Hospital on Thursday along with Israeli representatives, bereaved families, and representatives of the Olympic Committee and the German Embassy in Israel to remember the night of September 5, 1972, when eight terrorists brutally murdered 11 Israeli athletes, coaches and referees at the Munich Olympics. Itzchak Let, who is in charge of the German delegation's youth, stated: "We have come to the 18th Maccabiah Games with 180 people, which is 10 times 18 - a symbolic choice in numbers." The opening ceremonies are set for tomorrow.
