T.A. municipality blames bomb scare at Mayor's home on Hapoel fans
By Yigal Hai, Haaretz Correspondent

Police on Monday searched the house of Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai after receiving an anonymous warning that a bomb had been planted on the premises.

Tel Aviv municipality suspects a Hapoel Tel Aviv basketball team supporter made the anonymous call as part of series of hostile acts by fans, angry at Huldai for approving the demolition of the team's auditorium in favor of a park.

At 5:30 a.m. on Monday, a municipal receptionist received a call that claimed an explosives device had been planted at the the homes of both Huldai and his brother.

"Tell Huldai urgently that they planted a bomb in his house and that of his brother's in Kibbutz Hulta," the caller said, mistakenly referring to Huldai's hometown of Kibbutz Holda.

Police officers called off their search after no bombs were found.

Last month, the graves of Huldai's parents were desecrated in an incident suspected to have been carried out by disgruntled Hapoel Tel Aviv fans.
