Motorist indicted for murdering Mitzpe Ramon policeman
By Mijal Grinberg, Haaretz Correspondent
Tags: Be'er Sheva District Court

A motorist was indicted for murder on Friday, after he allegedly ran over a police officer in Mitzpe Ramon two weeks ago.

Before the incident, Be'er Sheva District Court heard, Ibrahim Tamtawi and his associate were stealing electricity cords. Upon leaving the town, south of Be'er Sheva, at around 11 P.M. that night, they were ordered to stop by police officer Yigal Cohen.

Tamtawi failed to stop and ran him over. The officer's body was dragged for some 80 meters, leaving him critically wounded. Cohen, a father of two, later died of his wounds.
